What Everyone Wants

It’s amazing how we are all connected-connected by the dots of our wants, needs and desires. I know that we all seem to be different obviously from our colours, sexes, races, religion, social backgrounds etc. But I’ve always had this thought- that apart from the fact that we’re all humans and share a single fear which is death, somehow there’s something that makes us all the same. So I did a research only to find out that my assumption is true.

When you go out every morning, try to pause and look around a little bit. You’ll see lots of people rushing somewhere, to work, school,  market etc. Basically everyone you see is busy, doing something, going somewhere. Ever wondered what they’re looking for wherever they might be going? – Happiness.
Think about it, when you go to work, you hope to get paid at the end of the day/month to be able to pay your bills and meet other needs, which in turn gives you peace of mind and happiness that comes from fulfillment.

People in relationships whether it’s with a person you love, your spouse, your child, your parent, a friend want to feel loved and respected. Every man and everyone woman in a relationship, wants one thing-Happiness.

A child needs his parents care and attention to be happy. A student goes to school, studies so well in order to get good grades because he believes that it’ll fetch him a good job which in turn increases his chances of getting all he wants- to be happy. Parents want their children to be the best because nothing can make them happier than seeing their children successful.

People practice different religions and believe in supremacy because they have this faith that someone mightier and more powerful than they are exist. Someone who’s capable of protecting them from unforeseen dangers, someone who’s capable of leading them to the right direction and ultimately nothing feels safe than knowing someone watches over you-feeling secured makes you happy.

We join different social groups because no one wants to be alone, everyone wants attention, we all need to belong somewhere, because it makes us happy to be accepted. You get married to someone you believe is the right person for you because you are expecting a happy ending. All these leave us all with one single desire- to be happy. It doesn’t matter if you are black or white, Christian or Islamic, male or female, rich or poor, we all want the same thing. All you have to do is to look at the dots, and if you still can’t see it, look closer, then you’ll find out that we are all pursuing the same thing. The question is, do we really know that?
